Welcome from the Provost

Welcome to Larkin University!

As the first Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at one of Florida’s newest private not-for-profit university, it is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to Larkin University. Thanks to a group of outstanding faculty, academic leaders, and interprofessional health care professionals, a wonderful foundation for the university has been established. The visionaries who recognized the need for Larkin University understood the health care delivery system and the health professions workforce needs of the future. As a result, we are well positioned to help develop students who will not only be outstanding healthcare clinicians but ones who will be leaders in the healthcare delivery system of the 21st century.

The global landscape of healthcare is changing daily. The need for healthcare professionals to deliver services to people of all ages, most especially the aging population is growing and changing how health care is delivered throughout the world. Underserved cities and rural areas continue to need interprofessional health care clinicians to meet their diverse medical challenges. Health care now and in the future, demands new delivery models focusing on team-based care and patient involvement in their health decisions, including preventive care throughout the life cycle.

Larkin University is well positioned to help deliver innovative education in a dynamic learning environment that incorporates the latest technologies, evidence based-science, and faculty who truly care about the students and their roles in the future health care system and related industries, including education. We at Larkin University are a family of educators and researchers who recognize the needs of an evolving healthcare environment that will demand professionals who are compassionate and patient-focused.

As a new university, we are committed to developing strong research agendas in both our College of Pharmacy and College of Biomedical Sciences. The faculty embraces the connection to education and research in advancing the development of solutions that promote the common good of health and society.  The research of the faculty extends to the international arena where new affiliations have been established with universities and research centers from throughout the world. Students will have unique opportunities to study internationally and learn from top-notch researchers as a result of these future affiliations.

Thank you for visiting our Larkin University website!  I look forward to welcoming you to our campus.

My sincere best,

Cecilia Rokusek, Ed.D., M.Sc., R.D.N.
