Dr. Paul Boylan, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical & Administrative Sceinces

Drs. Paul Boylan and Melissa Santibanez, Assistant Professors in the Department of Clinical and Administrative Sciences, attended the Annual Conference of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) in Phoenix, AZ between October 5 and 11, 2017. This conference is one of the largest gatherings of clinical pharmacists in the profession and it offers opportunities for clinical pharmacists to learn, network, and research.’

Dr. Boylan presented a poster on his research project “Integration of transitions of care pharmacist services within an accredited pulmonary rehabilitation clinic.” His work contributed to ACCP’s Clinical Pharmacy Forum by describing how pharmacists collaborated with an interprofessional respiratory clinic team to provide transitions of care services including medication reconciliation, inhaler training, and pulmonary telehealth. Dr. Boylan was honored to have his poster selected as a feature presentation for pharmacist continuing education credit during the pulmonary scientific poster presentation session. The research abstract will also be published in an upcoming issue of ACCP’s high-impact journal, Pharmacotherapy.

Dr. Melissa Santibanez, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical & Administrative Sciences

Dr. Santibanez’s clinical specialty and teaching foci are in the realm of critical care pharmacy. She participated in several sessions at the conference related to emergency medicine, critical care, and gastroenterology. Her current research is focused on pharmacy student and practitioner self-reported burnout in an accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. Dr. Santibanez plans on incorporating those concepts learned at ACCP into her classroom, clinical, and scholarly endeavors. Students interested in becoming members of ACCP or working with faculty in clinical research are encouraged to reach out to Drs. Boylan and Santibanez.
