LU Welcomes Newest Students of College of Pharmacy

On Saturday August 12th, Larkin University conducted their 2017 White Coat Ceremony to welcome their newest students to the College of Pharmacy. The students were congratulated on their achievement in being selected as pharmacy students in the 3 year PharmD program.  The Class of 2020 is comprised of 83 new students.

The beautifully organized ceremony include a special guest speaker, Kathy Baldwin, Pharm.D., BCPS, Immediate Past President of the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists.  The White Coat Ceremony was presided over by Georgia Lehoczky, RPh, the Regional Healthcare Director of Walgreen Company.

The White Coat Ceremony  is a relatively new ritual in some medical schools that started in 1989 and marks the student’s transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. They occur in the beginning of training, before the students have taken any lectures or laboratory classes, and the students’ families and friends are invited by the school to attend.

Open houses for admission to the Larkin University College of Pharmacy take place on a regular basis for interested students.  For more information, please call 305-760-7500.  To view more photos of the event, please visit The White Coat Ceremony Facebook Album.
