Pharmacy students participate in DRI Foundation Walk and Family Fun Day

On Saturday, March 4th, LU College of Pharmacy (COP) students participated in the 7th Annual Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Foundation Walk for Diabetes and Family Fun Day.

Students were extremely amused to see Star Wars characters support their initiatives. The event offered a free health fair where students, alongside their faculty mentors and Walgreens pharmacists, took patients’ blood pressure, counseled on healthy lifestyle changes, and instructed on the use of blood glucose meters. This experience transformed students’ knowledge from foundational skills to application (ACPE Standard 10.3). The event aligned with the students’ introductory pharmacy practice experience (IPPE), providing them with a chance to live out Larkin’s core values of professionalism, collaboration, and excellence. LU COP inaugural class was pleased to give back to their community, as most call Miami-Dade County their home.
