Student Pharmacists advocate in Tallahassee

Miami, FL – Larkin College of Pharmacy students, Andres Cancel and Amanda Allon together with their faculty advisor Christiane Chbib, Pharm.D., Ph.D., visited Tallahassee, FL to represent the Florida Pharmacist Association and Florida Health Systems Pharmacists. The student pharmacists advocated for many bills that have been introduced in the legislature; including S.B.1180 Integrating Pharmacist and Physician Services known nationally as Provider Status.

Larkin student pharmacists also brought attention to the causes that mattered to their communities and profession during a conversation with State Senator Rene Garcia. The students also expressed their opinion to a legislative staff of Senator Anitere Flores and Senator Frank Artiles. Students left inspired by the advise and support of Dr. Michael Jackson, Chief Executive Officer of Florida Pharmacist Association, Dr. Scott Tomerlin, outgoing President of the Florida Pharmacist Association, Dr. Angela Garcia, incoming President of Florida Pharmacist Association and Dr. Kathy Bladwin, President of the Florida Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.
